Folding@home Clients:

Keep up to date with the latest in CPU and GPU clients.

1. Be sure to register for your PASSKEY: HERE
You will need this passkey when you login the control panel.

2. Download the NVIDIA GPU Client for Windows: HERE

  • If you own a NVIDIA card, it must be compatible with CUDA, so the 8 series and above is compatible (a list is available to check if your card is compatible, including the GeForce, Tesla and Quadro lines). The GeForce series 7 and older is not compatible due to a lack of unified shaders.
  • You need to run the proper driver to run CUDA. NVIDIA official CUDA 177.35 (or newer) driver can be downloaded here and you should use this version unless there is a compelling reason to use a different one. To update the driver, it's suggested that you uninstall the old driver, reboot then install the new driver.

3. Download the ATI GPU Client for Windows: HERE

  • The ATI GPU requirement is to be compatible with ATI CAL, and that is any card from X2xxx (R6xx) series and above. Unfortunately this also means X1xxx and older cards are not compatible because the shader architecture is not unified.
  • The ATI driver requirement is currently the Catalyst 8.7 (or newer) and can be found here. To update the driver, it's suggested that you uninstall the old driver, reboot, then install the new driver.
  • 5xxx series GPUs are supported starting in the v6.23 FAH client, and requires the 9.10 Catalyst driver or newer. Also use the -forcegpu ati_r700 switch until 5xxx hardware is auto-detected in later FAH clients.

4. Download the CPU Client for Windows: HERE
This client is used if you want to fold on your CPU.

Right click and save the link to your system. Once the download is completed, simply double click the .msi file to install.

You can run both GPU and CPU clients at once.

How to install a client and join the ASUS Republic of Gamers Folding@home Team!

Once the file is downloaded, double click on the .msi file as you would any other program. You will be greeted by the following screen:

Click next, agree to the terms and conditions, and so on until it is installing:

It only takes a few moments to install, once it's complete click close to exit the install program:

You will find the program in your start menu under Programs > Folding@Home and Folding@Home-GPU. For CUDA-based Folding (which is up to 140 times faster than current CPU's), you will want to run at least the Folding@Home-GPU. The first time you run the program, you will select a user name and the team number. It's important to type in team 183368 to join ASUS Republic of Gamers Folding Team:

When you click OK, a new icon will appear in your task manager (normally in the lower-right of your creen by the clock). You are now Folding@Home with ASUS Republic of Gamers! If you want to see a graphical representation of your work, right click on the icon and click display.

Keep in mind both the CPU and GPU based programs will tax your system. Please keep a close eye on your system temperatures while folding. These programs are automatically configured to be run in the background without affecting performance much, but you may notice performance decreases while gaming, so ASUS does not recommend running these programs during gaming or other heavy-load scenarios.
